Our Story

Have you ever run into someone and you lost all concept of time? I will never forget the day we met. We bumped into each other at the gas station and started talking. 3 hours later... we were still standing there talking, like we had been best friends our whole lives. Katie and Dylan were just 6 and 5 years old, respectively, and sitting the backseat the whole time. Dylan poked his head out and yells, "Dad, I gotta pee." We made plans to see each other later that night, and the rest is history...

Our first holiday's together were so special because I got to meet most of his family the first year we were together. I come from a very small family and Joe has quite a large family. It was so wonderful to be welcomed with open arms! I felt like I was already apart of the family...We just decided to make it official.

An anniversary to remember! Cheers to 4 years and a lifetime of memories to go. Last year of dating before he decided to pop the question! 4 beautiful years of building our family and making countless memories to last a lifetime. Our life is always wild, but we have built a life we love. With Katie, Dylan, Mia, Mama Hen, our baby chicks, and all of the kids' friends, there is never a dull moment. We are so very blessed. Our life is unconventional at best, but we couldn't imagine it any other way.

We were supposed to go get groceries in Virginia. We get to 4 corners, and he takes a left to go towards Aurora. I was like Oh, he's going that way. We get to Highway 4, and he turns again. I was like Virginia is that way, and he says, we aren't going to Virginia... just enjoy the ride. My mind was going a million different directions, but I didn't know he was going to propose. I kept asking him where we were going. He tells me that I am on a need-to-know basis, and I don't need to know. We get to Duluth, and he asks me where I want to go for lunch and I said Texas Roadhouse. We got lunch and then we ventured up to Enger Tower. We walked along the hillside with Mia and looked out over Duluth. Then we continued farther down the trail and sat on a bench and when we were all by our self, he asks me, "I bet you're wondering why I brought you up here." "I shake my head and said well, yeah." and He tell me. "I would like to ask you to marry me." OF course I said Yes! with tear in my eyes, and then asked him if he was serious. Little did he know, it was my Grandpa's birthday on my dad's side. Neither my dad nor my grandpa are with us anymore, but on our way out of Duluth, we were able to stop by my Dad's gravestone and let him know we were engaged. It was such a bittersweet moment because I was so happy. But I wanted so much to tell my daddy and ask him to walk me down the aisle and share my first dance. I just have to say, He had no clue how perfect of a day he chose to propose! The weather was perfect, the location and view was perfect, the way he did it was perfect, the fact that it was my grandpa's birthday made it that much more special. I cannot wait to marry him and steal his last name. I just wish my dad could have met Joe. He would be so proud of him, of me, and of us.
